Sorption of Nitrogen and Water Vapor on Textile Fibers 1
نویسنده
چکیده
:-Ieas urements were made of the adsorption of nit rogen and water vapor on six purified text ile fibe rs and t itaniu m dioxide. It was found that all of t he fi bers had a relatiYely low capa city for the adsorption of nitrogen as compared with t h c capacity for t h e adsorption of ,,'ater vapor. T he surface area values ranged from 0,31 sq uare meter per gram for nylon to 0.98 square meter per gram for dscose rayon. The val ues of t he free surfa ce energieR of adsorp t ion as calculated by the Gibbs adsorption equation \\"ere t he same for wool, cotton, silk, and rayon fibers b u t differed for t he two synthetic polymers , nylon and acetate rayon.

Electrospun polyurethane fibers for absorption of volatile organic compounds from air.
Electrospun polyurethane fibers for removal of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from air with rapid VOC absorption and desorption have been developed. Polyurethanes based on 4,4-methylenebis(phenylisocyanate) (MDI) and aliphatic isophorone diisocyanate as the hard segments and butanediol and tetramethylene glycol as the soft segments were electrospun from their solutions in N,N-dimethylformamid...
متن کاملVapor-phase Sorption and Polymerization of Phenols by Smectite in Air and Nitrogen
-Reactions of smectite with phenols were investigated to understand the role of clay minerals in abating transport of these organic pollutants to ground water. Sorption of o-methylphenol, o-chlorophenol, and m-methylphenol by the clay with different exchange cations was accomplished by passing phenol vapors in a slow stream of air or nitrogen through the samples. The resulting products, extract...
متن کاملUtilisation possibilities of textile waste for the production of medium density fiberboard
Background and Objective: Nowadays, in metropolitan areas, principled and hygienic waste management is very important. Recycling is one of the most appropriate options in waste management. Hereof, the present study was aimed to investigate the possibility of using textile waste fibers in the manufacture of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). Materials and Methods: This experimental study was perf...
متن کاملPhotocatalytic Removal of NOx Gas from Air by TiO2/Polymer Composite Nanofibers
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) released in atmosphere by fuels combustion lead to photochemical smog and acidic rains and have negative effects on human`s nervous system. In this research nanocomposite membranes of Poly Vinylidene Fluoride (PVDF)/ Poly Dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and Titanium Dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) with different weight percentage of TiO2 (0.5 and 1) for adsorption of NOx were prepare...
متن کاملTreatment of Textile Waste Water with Organoclay
In this study a sample of bentonite obtained from Semnan mines, was modified by a surfactant to prepare an organoclay with high surface area. BET analysis showed that the modification increased its surface significantly. The prepared sorbent was used for removal of dyes and other organic pollutants from a waste water obtained from Ekbatan textile company. Adsorption was studied in ...
